What more can we add to the story already written. It perhaps needed the 600 years of pedigree of the Antinori family to craft a project as radical as Tignanello. Now a global icon, a mainstay of collectors and a fixture on Michelin star restaurant wine lists. It's easy to forget it Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet) and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region that didn’t use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It’s produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It's a wine all collectors should experience at least once.
Tasting Notes: Layered notes of ripe plum, blackcurrant, blood orange, underpinned by graphite, tobacco, and cedar. Elegant acidity and polished tannins lead to a long, perfumed finish punctuated by sweet spice and minerality.
Acclaim: 98 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Composition: 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc
Pair with: Grilled Ribeye Steak, Braised Short Ribs with Mushrooms, Aged Pecorino Toscano
