The original icon? Paul Jaboulet Aîné winery was founded in 1834 in the Tain L'Hermitage, at the foot of the famed hill of Hermitage overlooking the Rhone river. Famed for their power, structure and immense ability to age - Hermitage is the definitive Syrah terroir. Nestled on Hermitage hill, the Maison Bleue – meaning “blue house” in French – is a small stone house with blue shutters that provides a shaded place to rest for winegrowers and horses. The winemaking here is traditional, with 12 months spent in mainly used oak barrels. The result? A true icon - yours to enjoy now, or over the next 15-25 years.
Tasting Notes: Dark plum, blackberry, and mocha meld with pencil shaving and grilled herbs. Juicy red and blue berry notes surface amid pipe tobacco and floral pastille, leading to a long smoky-spice and mineral-rich finish framed by supple tannins.
Acclaim: 95 Points from Falstaff, 94 Points from James Suckling, 94 Points from Wine Advocate, 93 Points from Jeb Dunnuck, and 92 Points from Decanter
Composition: 100% Syrah
Pair with: Pistachio-Crusted Lamb Chops, Black Pepper Steak, Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms
