How Cellar Tracker Rates

The system allows users to rate wines based on their personal experiences, considering factors like complexity, balance, and overall enjoyment. Tasting notes are also provided, offering additional context and insight into the wines being reviewed.

Cellar Tracker History
CellarTracker was founded in March 2003 by Eric LeVine, initially as a personal project to help him track his own wine cellar. At the time, LeVine was working at Microsoft, and the website began as a simple hobby. After sharing it with a few friends, he recognized the potential to create a larger community. By July 2003, he launched a beta program with 100 users tracking 60,000 bottles. Eric then publicly launched CellarTracker in April 2004, and it quickly gained traction. In August 2004, he left Microsoft to dedicate himself fully to the site.
Over the years, CellarTracker has evolved into a leading wine cellar management tool and a valuable resource for wine enthusiasts. The platform has grown to support hundreds of thousands of users tracking more than 158 million bottles. It also boasts the largest database of community-generated wine tasting notes, with over 10 million reviews available as of early 2023. Every year, CellarTracker receives more than 10 million visitors who use the site for wine recommendations, reviews, and tracking their collections.
Originally operated by a small team, CellarTracker has significantly expanded in recent years, growing from just 4.5 employees in 2021 to 25 staff members. The platform’s development has been fueled by the growing digital convergence in the wine industry, with the team focused on maximizing the potential of CellarTracker and fostering its passionate community of wine collectors and enthusiasts. Eric LeVine continues to lead the company as CEO and Chairman, overseeing its ongoing growth and success.
