As the first New Zealander, and at the time, the first person in the Southern Hemisphere, to earn this title, he demonstrates unwavering commitment to his field.
His expertise extends beyond examinations. He is a seasoned wine writer, commentator, judge, reviewer, presenter, and consultant. He acts as an unofficial ambassador for New Zealand wine, dedicating time to exploring the country's various wine regions. He contributes to publications like Hospitality Business and FMCG Business Magazines, and provides wine reviews to both wineries and the public. His involvement with the NZ Wine Navigator team and the Fine Wines of New Zealand initiative highlights his influence within the industry.
Cameron's engagement in wine education is extensive. He leads the Wine and Beverage Programme at AUT University in Auckland and consults for the wine, hospitality, and tourism sectors. He is the Patron of the New Zealand Sommeliers and Wine Professionals Association and advises numerous establishments on wine lists, food pairings, and staff training.
